Overview
I am an artist living and working in the south west of Western Australia. I work predominantly in oils, but enjoy returning occasionally to sketching, watercolour and pastels.
My primary focus is portraiture, which I find to be an effective vehicle for commenting on the vulnerability of the human condition. My aim is to transcend the limitations of the artistic materials – the paint and the two dimensional surface – in order to communicate with the viewer and to speak to them at their core.
When producing art, I like to create pieces that are beautiful to look at, and that contain an element of story-telling, but that are realised with simplicity. I seek to explore themes of loss, sacrifice, love, alienation and other emotional content.
A selection of my work may be seen at Checkmate Gallery in Bunbury.
